Remarks & Notes
Word has it that the last operating semaphores in New Mexico will soon be replaced. With cameras in hand we set out to capture these nearly 100 year old iconic railroad signals. We also wanted to capture another soon-to-be historic icon, the venerable P42DC. The one southbound train a day on this line (Amtrak's Southwest Chief) was on time and the weather was sunny, making for some pretty happy railfans. If you want to see these you should hurry - we saw a BNSF team inspecting the semaphores in anticipation of removing them, and many have been recently replaced.
