Norfolk Southern shop crews worked for nearly 30 hours to clean up and make shiny the Southern Heritage ES44AC, #8099, for a Monday morning, September 16, office car special that was scheduled to depart Altoona, PA at 0900 hrs. At 0430 hrs, the NS 8099 was rolled out of the cleaning shed and onto the turntable at Juniata to get it oriented correctly for the trip east out of town a few hours later.
