Remarks & Notes |
The gloom of winter is temporarily masked by the vibrant orange paint of BNSF power ahead of empty coal drag E PAMWTM0 26A as it rolls in front of the abandoned warehouse buildings of Kansas City's gritty West Bottoms district at Old Union Depot. Routed off the Fort Scott Subdivision at Santa Fe JCT, the train is utilizing Track 82 of KCT's North-South Corridor to access the "Gooseneck" onto home rails across the Hannibal Bridge to Murray Yard and onto St. Joseph. Interchanged off the NS at Memphis, these empty Alabama Power aluminum coal hoppers originated at the James H. Miller Jr. Generating Plant in Quinton, northwest of Birmingham and are headed for the West Thunder Mine load out along the Orin Line in Wyoming's Powder River Basin. UP intermodal ILXDUX 31 can be seen moving through downtown on the KC Metro Sub off to the right of the frame. |
