Remarks & Notes |
The ”electric-diesels”. The MTA New York City Transit Subway R77Es/SL50E are a unique General Electric (1983) product. Frequently given the aforementioned nickname by the crews that use them, they draw power from 3rd rail only and do not have internal combustion engines. Their limited capabilities has made them less useful than their diesel counterparts for work service and their lack of crew quarters makes them less desirable for use on garbage trains. A full 60% of the fleet sits in Concourse Subway Yard in between some Redbirds from the work fleet on the afternoon of March 28, 2019. |
