In June 1984, with the shadows in the Alhambra Valley getting longer and longer, six 4-axle EMDs lead a westbound Santa Fe pig across Muir Trestle in Martinez, CA. In a month or so, Santa Fe will release big 6-axle power to haul trains north of Bakersfield, instead of just B-Bs.
