Metra EMD SW1200 No. 3 moves two newly-acquired EMD F59PHI locomotives on the north end of Metra’s coach yard south of Chicago Union Station on November 8, 2018. METX Nos. 73 and 77 are two of 21 F59PHIs Metra has bought from Amtrak that were previously used mostly on California routes. Metra has touched up the paint with minimal changes, and renumbered and relettered them, with full repaints to come later. These F59PHIs have been shuttled to Chicago one at a time on Amtrak’s Southwest Chief.
