Class 52 loco D1015 "Western Champion" (built at Swindon in 1963) climbs Eardington Bank with a Kidderminster to Bridgnorth working,on the Severn Valley Railway. 74 of these locos were built between 1961 and 1964.Fitted with two Maybach engines and Voith hydraulic transmission,they worked 90mph expresses on the former Great Western lines out of London Paddington.All had been withdrawn by 1977,replaced by the High Speed Trains.
