| A large work block on the BNSF Transcon over the weekend for bridge projects had BNSF detouring trains everywhere. A few detours ran via the Ottumwa Sub including this Galesburg to Kansas City freight. The train has just crossed the Mississippi River at Burlington. The train has also just crossed into Iowa and will continue the westward journey thru southern Iowa to the next crew change at Creston, IA, 189 miles ahead.
The drawbridge here was replaced in 2 phases with the lift span completed February 2011, and the rest done by October 2012. This new bridge replaced the 1893 bridge that was the 2nd bridge built here. |
