Remarks & Notes
With South Shore's freight roster consisting of 2-D-D-2s and leased former C&O and FEC Geeps, the decision was made by management to acquire a fleet of new GP38-2s to replace their aging fleet. The first two in the series, CSS 2000 and 2001, arrived in January '81 and are seen in Burnham Yard awaiting their first assignment. Tom Golden photo.
