Remarks & Notes

Most of the majestic trestles on NS's Clinch Valley Line have grown in with trees and brush in the 100+ years since the line opened. By this third week of October, most of the trees in southwest Virginia are bare. The lead locomotive on an eastbound coal drag crosses a trestle in the Gillespie area.
