On a beautiful May afternoon in 2010, westbound BNSF coal empties negotiate the radical hogbacks just east of Bellevue, TX. From our vantage point between the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 287, we can see both the head end and the DPUs on what looks like a compact train, but which is actually quite long.
