On the road to Claysburg. An Everett Railroad Passenger Train led by Locomotive #11 rumbles across the iron bridge over Halter Creek on a run south toward the company yard at Claysburg. The sheds at Claysburg are home to #11, when she's not running excursions, so while it is not unusual to see her on this trestle, it is very unusual to see her with a train here. That's because most of the line's passenger excursions travel to either Brooks Mill or Roaring Spring, so the passenger cars almost never see this branch of the railroad. The Everett Railroad is primarily a freight line, but since the restoration of #11 a couple of years back the company has slowly been expanding its offering of steam-powered excursions, not only during the summer and fall, but also during the holiday season in December. It's great to see steam operations return to a part of Pennsylvania that has a rich history of steam railroading.
