Remarks & Notes
The SJVR Photo Line. An impromtu photo line has been formed by three of the San Joaquin Valley Railroad's units as they pose in the Bakersfield yard on a cloudy morning. Moving from left to right, SJVR 1829 is the only unit moving in this photo, heads west with a string of cars that it will soon shove back into another track as it builds a train. Built in 1964, this rare GP28 first saw service on the Missouri Pacific Railroad before moving to KYLE and eventually the SJVR. The 1829 is the only unit out of the three seen here that carries the SJVR's original paint scheme. SJVR 3818, a 1973-built GP38-2, originally served the Colorado and Wyoming Railroad before moving to CORP and finally the SJVR. Last but not least, SJVR 3822, a 1967-built GP38, was originally delivered to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad as B&O 3824. Later on becoming CSX 2042, the unit then carried the numbers of 5042 and 3822 for the CORP Railroad. Coming from CORP, the 3822 kept its final number and has now become the SJVR 3822.
