Remarks & Notes
Emerging out of the shadows of lower Truxton Canyon, the square nose of an EMD SD70ACe races west towards the fading sun as it hustles a loaded steel coil train towards the ports of Northern California. Up until recently, EMD power was rare along the western portion of the Southern Transcon as these units were mainly used on the coal drags in the Midwest. With coal slowly becoming less used, these units are now finding their way on to trains bound for Southern California.
