Remarks & Notes
1275 was built by North British, Glasgow and was in service from 1952 to 1967. After restoration 1275 returned to main line in 2004. The train participated in a memorial honoring the efforts of the crew of KA 949 to save lives at Tangiwai 24/12/1953. A lahar damaged bridge collapsed under the express train from Wellington resulting in one of the worst ever rail disasters.
