Remarks & Notes |
With a train of colorful containers highlighting the numerous power robbing curves up the western slope of Beaumont Hill, also known as San Timoteo Canyon, an eastbound Union Pacific stack train seeks to defy gravity on its climb out of the Los Angeles Basin and up to the summit of the San Gorgonio Pass at Apex. In the distance a reminder of southern California's rich citrus history can be seen trackside, a throwback to when the railroad moved thousands of carloads of crops from the Golden State to markets across the United States. |
