Remarks & Notes
Foley Bros. purchased a GE/I-R 600hp diesel, built at GE's new Erie erecting facility (replacing Alco for body construction) in 1929, delivered in January 1930 to Colstrip, Montana, for Foley Bros. as #110-1. This was for service at a coal mine owned by Northern Pacific and worked under contract by Foley Bros. to provide steam locomotive coal. It's not clear how late the locomotive operated, possibly into the 1950s or 60s, but it never left its original home until it was donated in the early 1990s to the Feather River Rail Society by United Industries, Inc. of Billings, Montana, the successor to Foley Bros. It is the only surviving GE/I-R box cab (after Alco dropped out), the only surviving 600hp box cab (all other survivors are GE/I-R/Alco 300hp locomotives), and the only surviving Western box cab (other survivors spent all their time in the East).
