After about 20 years of sustained work, the former SBB 2-10-0 steamlocomotive C 5/6 # 2969 "Elephant" is nearing completion in the shed of association "Eurovapor Lokremise Sulgen". The boiler is under pressure and was controlled by the inspector. Next spring the first trials (brake test etc.) should start. The large freight locomotive was built by SLM Winterthur in 1916 mainly for the Gotthard line. In this days, the 1620 HP, 4 cylinder compound "Elephant" is exactly 100 years old. Actually, the boiler and tender of this particular locomotive are from the # 2958, because of better conditions.
