After having the leader die early on in the trip across the hilly B&A, CSX was forced to make a few changes. With the crew running on borrowed time a decision needed to be made quickly. The solution was to put a measly GP40-2 on the point, which are used from time to time in helper service, but rarely are put on the front of a train. This "little" yard goat had no issues leading the long auto train up and down the demanding grades of the Berkshires, as it is seen here snaking its way East toward the summit.
