| Pilot is the second siding west of the Utah/Nevada state line on Union Pacific’s Shafter Sub. It is the location of a large limestone quarry whose waste rock dump is seen looming in the background above the MRORV. This daily Roper Yard to Roseville manifest freight is slugging it out on the long 1% grade from Wendover, Utah to the summit of Silver Zone Pass. Arnolds Loop is 10 miles ahead and Silver Zone summit is 16 long miles ahead. |
