I remember eating dinner with a friend of mine, who's an engineer for the BNSF out Lincoln, NE, who told me "there's nothing like controlling a 16,000 ton coal train and watching an amazing sunset". In April of 2016, I had to wonder if that's what was on the mind of the crew of a heavy Slaton, TX to Barstow, CA manifest train as they tackle up the grade of the Arizona Divide; into the setting sun. With a CSX SD70MAC on the point, this 10,000 ton manifest slowly grinds up the grade, as they heads towards the San Francisco Peaks; near Flagstaff, AZ.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
