Two trains on the Biaschina "staircase", where you can see the trains on three different levels. The southbound freighttrain of the BLS is pulled by Re 486 # 508 and # 505. Take note of the slightly different picture of the alpinist on the side walls. # 508 has the original version from when the locomotive was built in 2008, # 505 has a newer version from 2016 (with darker sunglasses). On the uppermost level, just crossing the 105 meter long Pianotondo viaduct, is Intercity tilt train RABDe 500 # 014 "Max Frisch", running as ICN 870 from Lugano to Zürich. This train passed the photographer exactly 3 1/2 minutes before this picture was shot. The meeting of this trains was perfect from the sight of the photographer!
