The grassy hills around Bealville on California’s Tehachapi Pass are an emerald green on February 24, 2016, as an Union Pacific manifest freight climbs past maintenance-of-way working in the siding. UP GE ES44AC No. 2552 leads two newer GE ET44AC (ET44AH) locomotives as motive power, with a Genset tucked in behind the power on the heavy eastbound (southbound) freight.
