| The quiet calm of a Spring morning in the Tehachapi mountains is interrupted by a labored roar, synonymous with Tehachapi's Hills for the better part of 140 years, the unmistakable battle cry heralds the arrival of eastbound tonnage. With three new ET45AHs in command a lumber laden monster QRVWC struggles around the Keene horseshoe curve on the ascent to Woodford. For 140 years trains have been contending with the power robbing curves and stiff grades on Tehachapi's western slope and while the power has evolved to match the demands of modern railroading, the presentation will never cease to amaze. |
