On the Monday following a three day weekend for the Morristown and Erie Railway, the MO-1 local had a lot of work to do. About a week prior to this, I got a message from a friend and fellow railfan that he was going to be in the area and he was going to head out to shoot the Morristown and Erie Railway. I decided I would head out with him and show him around, given he wasn't as familiar with the area as I am. We met up in Morristown at 8am, and the only thing we knew was MO-1 was going on duty at 7:30am.
Being from the area, I had seen the M&E plenty of times. But anything west of Dover I am somewhat unfamiliar with, only chasing the Toys for Tots train once in the past. So when the engine came out of Morristown and headed towards Dover, I got a bit worried. But a quick drive down the Lake Junction, and the train was back in my sights. From there, the train would work the Chester Branch, High Bridge Branch and the Dover and Rockaway Branch, which my friend and I shot all of. Not bad for a last minute trip, just wingin' it! Here the train is pictured arriving on the D&R, in Dover, NJ.
