Equipment for train #75, the Piedmont, heads out of the NCDOT yard behind the old Seaboard train station as it begins its day. It will run from here down to the old Southern Railway Station, where it will pick up passengers for its run to Charlotte.
Three north-south routes run through North Carolina. Auto Train comes by, too. Also, the State of North Carolina sponsors the Piedmont service and supports the Carolinian.
