| Early morning, on a hot day, three Class 18E (Series 2) locomotives wait for a new crew on a siding near Redan. December is the rainy season in this part if the world and the first rains have already started - hence the profusion of weeds on the tracks!
These locomotives are rebuilds, having previously been Class 6E1 locomotives (this class originally built between 1971 and 1981).
A good example is the lead locomotive 18 750 - originally build in 1976 and rebuilt to a 18E in 2013. |
