A four car Intercity 'V set' prepares to depart Newcastle station with an express service to Sydney, while on the left an 'Oscar' set waits to follow with a stopping all stations service. At the time of writing the the line into Newcastle is due to be closed and ripped up on Boxing Day 2014 as part of a (in this railfan's opinion) corrupt plan to sell off the land to developers.
