Aemsigen is the crossing station halfway on the ride up to Pilatus summit. The up or down going railcars are meeting each other regularly every 45 minutes, each "train" consist of several (up to 5) cogwheel railcars Bhe 1/2. Because of technical reasons, there are no switches/turnouts possible, instead there are traversers installed to change the appropriate section of track.
