The inbound Searles Turn passes a holdover from the steam era in the form of a water tank at Searles. This location was once a bustling interchange between the Southern Pacific and Trona Railway. While times have changed, the UP and Trona still interchange quite a bit of traffic at this desolate location in the Mojave Desert.
