Remarks & Notes

Here's the one and only time I've witnessed a Southern Pacific GP40X, not realizing it until the slide was scanned 25 years hence! Apparently the SP had a roster of four of them, built by EMD in 1978. Rio Grande's 177 train from Pueblo is pictured approaching Springville on the morning of Aug. 13, 1988.
