Remarks & Notes |
Back in December 2012, Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation took over operations of the 6.45 mile long Aiken Branch and the 12.45 mile long SA Branch, under a lease agreement from Norfolk Southern, thus Aiken Railway was formed. The current start up power LTEX 1543 was leased to handle the traffic until one of the two Ex. ATSF/BNSF GP30s purchased for the operation were completed and set to take over duties.
Here is AIKR 4202 in the operation's debut paint scheme leading local Z590-06 with two cars for interchange to CSXT from Pickens Railway. AIKR 4201 is next up as it still wears its Bluebonnet colors it was originally delivered in. This is one of the test runs of the unit before it is shipped to it's new home in Aiken. Photo taken on Railroad Property. Photographer is an employee of the company. |
