Photographed on Kodachrome more than two years after America's Bicentennial celebration, WP 1776 awaits servicing at D&RGW's Roper Diesel Shop in South Salt Lake. GP40 1776 was built the WP 3540 by EMD in Sept. 1971. Unfortunately it would be destroyed in a wreck at Hayward, CA on April 9, 1980.
