Lending truth to the name "armstrong lever," the signal box operator at Tipperary leans waaaaay back to line up the morning eastbound service from Limerick Junction to Waterford. The levers are directly connected to the switches and semaphores at each end of the short siding by rods, making this exertion necessary. The operator also controls the level crossing gates below the tower, although the push-button electronic controls require much less effort.
