Remarks & Notes

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe trackage rights manifest glides west through marshy terrain near Kenecott Copper's Garfield Smelter. The BNSF train is westbound on the former Western Pacific (UP Shafter Sub) while (in the background) UP's St. John Local heads east on the former Los Angeles & Salt Lake Route (Lynndyl Sub). The two mainlines come together at CP C766 Smelter.
