Remarks & Notes
Parked along the service rail at the Roper diesel shop, Rio Grande GP40-2 #3123 awaits its next assignment east out of South Salt Lake. The 3123 was built by EMD in Sept. 1974, a member of a fleet of 3000 horsepower mainline haulers that numbered 37 by March of 1983. The 3123 is today employed by the Union Pacific, renumbered the 1346 and likely wearing a coat of Armour Yellow paint and assigned to work local jobs.
