This weekend, Great britain and the Commonwealth is celebrating the Diamond Jubilee. her Majesty th eQueen has been our Monarch for 60 years. Sadly, the weather hasn't matched the sunny, celebratory atmosphere around the country. There have been several Diamond jubilee Railtours. here we see 46233 Duchess of Sutherland at Hellifield waiting for departure to Carlisle with the "Hadrian" railtour. While waiting, it was overtaken by preserved diesel no 47 580 County of Essex on the "Diamond Jubilee" railtour. In its British Rail days this locomotive was painted in this special livery. Since being restored to main line use, it has been restored to the same livery, but without the huge Union Jack painted on the side, that it carried originally. The flag has been restored for this weekend. The loco also carries flags on the front and the driver waves a Union Jack out of the window as it passes the steam loco.
