Remarks & Notes

The Rio Grande Zephyr's trio of EMD F9s claw into the 2% grade, just (timetable) east of the lower horseshoe curve at Gilluly, Utah. In the background, US Highway 6 takes a more direct and steeper route to Soldier Summit on a right of way once occupied by the railroad. Note the 'Wilson McCarthy' business car is coupled to the Silver Sky at the rear of the train.
