Remarks & Notes
Sun came out in the right moment to enlighten the very rare meeting of this two classic locomotives of the former East African Railways, both under steam and operational. On the left the giant 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt # 5918 "Mount Gelai" from 1955, most powerful narrow gauge steamlocomotive ever built. On the right the classic East African Class 24 (former EB3 of Kenya Uganda Railways) # 2409, a 4-8-0 built in 1923 by Vulcan and Nasmyth Wilson/UK. Both locomotives are burning heavy fuel oil and belong to Nairobi Railway Museum today.
