Shortly after meeting sister #4325 on the southbound Star at Reves siding the ARR's nightly Anchorage-Fairbanks freight (known colloquially as the OX) is seen wheeling around a sweeping curve right on time with three SD70MACs trailing 88 cars at just over a mile in length. This is the second train of three shot in the span of two hours…just another typically busy afternoon on the ARR mainline north of Anchorage.
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
