Remarks & Notes
On January 4, 1996, Utah celebrated 100 years of statehood. To mark the occasion, the Southern Pacific ran a passenger special along the D&RGW between Green River and Salt Lake City, stopping in the communities of Helper, Provo, and American Fork. Pictured in Price Canyon, immaculate SP 9809 is adorned with American flags winding it's way through the Kyune gooseneck on the ascent to Soldier Summit. Trailing behind the SD70M is SP business car #140, the 'Stanford'.
