Beneath the fluffy clouds 595 rests in the yard across the main from Huntsville Station, while it's crew grabs a quick lunch. Soon the more ominous clouds visible off to the left will move in for the afternoon, as usual. Back in the days of steam there used to be an overhead pedestrian bridge right in front of where I'm standing leading down to the steamship docks, the pilings of which are still visible in Hunter's Bay. There also used to be several more tracks with the necessary water and coaling towers plus a 3-stall roundhouse and a workshop. While much has changed in the past 50 - 60 years it's nice to see the railroad still has maintained a presence here serving local industries, unlike Bracebridge and Gravenhurst to the south whose yards and/or sidings have disappeared or stand unused. At least the Northlander still provides those communities with passenger service. I even heard a rumor they might be building a new station for Bracebridge, which presently has one of those "phone booth" shelters. Hope it is true!
