Remarks & Notes
A shot inside the cab of a magnificent 214-ton Beyer-Garratt GL class locomotive at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. This huge loco was built in 1930 by The Beyer Peacock Company in Manchester and is now externally restored and on display. The loco was used on the South African Railway Durban - Cato Ridge section of the Natal main line until 1968 and then on the Stanger-Empangani route until withdrawal in 1972, it returned to England in 1984.
