Amtrak #5 arrives Denver Union Terminal behind BN E8A 9942 and two Union Pacific E unit Bs. 9942 was one of two, the other being 9943, CB&Q E8s that was repainted in BN colors and pulled the first westbound Empire Builder/North Coast Limited from Chicago on March 2, 1970. Looking worse for wear, 9942 would eventually become Amtrak 337.
