Three Wisconsin Central SD45s on southbound
train FDBR make a pick-up at Burlington, Wisconsin
on January 2, 2001. On this bitterly cold winter morning,
Echo Lake (to the right of the locomotives) is completely
frozen over, and the depot roof is covered by snow.
Three weeks later, the WC announced it would be
acquired by the Canadian National. This would be
the last winter for the WC, and the days of seeing
SD45s in road service on WC mainline trains
would begin to draw to a close.
