Remarks & Notes |
Assembled here on an old depot cart, we have a collection of some of the lamps and lanterns that we used for the night shots. From left to right, DRG&WRR lantern made by Handlan Buck Mfg. Co of St. Louis, an Adams and Westlake (aka Adlake) fork mounted switch lamp with the kerosene tank mounted out side the body of the lamp with red and green lenses, a Dressel switch lamp showing red and yellow day targets with corresponding red and yellow lenses, and a somewhat standard Adlake post mounted switch lamp also with red and green lenses. Part of the fascination that I find so satisfying about collecting and photographing lamps and lanterns is being able to both witness and demonstrate to others the brilliant colors that their Kopp and Corning glass lenses produce while being fired by a bright orange kerosene flame.
