With the nationwide slump in rail traffic "freight" has come to the Wisconsin Great Northern, normally a tourist/excursion only line. The road is currently home to a fleet of stored tank cars found on the few pieces of side track in Spooner and on the mainline between the end of excursion runs a Spring Brook and the CN interchange at Hayward Jct. F7 #423 holds the weedy main track at Spring Brook as a long string of empty tank cars stretch off to the northeast behind her. Both the F and the track are formerly Chicago & North Western.
