Fifty years ago, when I was a young trainspotter, this would have been the equivalent of Hell freezing over! An ex-Great Western Castle Class would never have appeared along this line, which I used to frequent often. No. 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe is seen at Standish heading south with the Casdtle Over Shap railtour. Although I'm not a GW man, the sound of those four cylinders going a full pelt had to be heard. Apparently, the loco coped with the gradient at Shap very well.
