Union Pacific's Malad Local makes a pickup at the Intermountain Farmer's Association loadout at Garland, Utah. Historically, this section of track was a portion of UP's 10 mile Bear River Branch, built in 1903 to tap several sugar beet dumps along the west side of the towns of Garland and Tremonton. Intermountain Farmers is now the last active customer along this historic segment of track. The rugged Wellsville Mountains offer the Malad Local a stunning backdrop.
