Remarks & Notes 
A pretty inhospitable place to work, especially in stormy weather such as this, and it sometimes is much, much worse than this. 37259 inches across the newly-laid track on its way to Barmouth to run round the train. It then dropped ballast on its way south over the new track. On the extreme right can be seen the avalanche shelter, which was built after fatal accidents in both 1863 and 1933 when the engines and tenders fell onto the rocks below.
